Sankhu (Sakwo) Village

Sankhu is one of Kathmandu Valley’s oldest outskirts villages. Sankhu is one of Kathmandu district’s oldest typical Newari village. It was created at 1801 Kaligat Sambat KS (700 years ago that Roman mythology), according to the ancient novel (Manisaili Mahabadan). It is distributed around five VDCs (Pukhulachhi, Suntole, Bajrayogini, Indrayani, Lapsephedi). Sankhu’s population is about fifty thousand. It is located at an altitude of 1328 meters from the sea level, 17 km east-north away from the kathamandu town.

From north and east, Sankhu is surrounded by Manichod Mountain, while Nagarkot, Changu Narayan and Boudhanath are Sankhu’s closest renowned world destination. Sankhu has many temples, images, cultures, traditional dances, excellent wood carvings model, jungles and mountains for hiking and safari, harmony of religion. The place is wealthy in both natural and cultural aspects with abundant probability of beauty, ancient and hypnotic tourism.
