Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa at the Khokana Tourism Festival Inauguration in Lalitpur
Kathmandu: Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa has formally inaugurated Khokana Tourism Festival 2020 in Lalitpur district on Friday, which is slated for February 21 to 23, with the slogan “Save the local skills and culture”.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the festival, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa said that such efforts to hold tourism festivals will ultimately support in bringing prosperity and progress of the nation as envisioned by the government.
Minister Thapa also assured the organizers that the Home Ministry will readily play its possible supportive role in holding such events.
Lalitpur Ward 21 Chairman Rabindra Maharjan on the occasion said, “We are holding this festival to promote local rural tourism of this historic city of Lalitpur after the last earthquake. The festival will showcase various Newari cultural dances and display local Newari cuisines besides promoting Nepal Visit Year 2020 campaign. Both domestic and foreign tourists usually flock to this touristic spot to see the life cycle of local people and the ancient architectural monuments”.
According to the organizers of the local event, the festival is being organized to establish Khokana village as a significant rural tourist destination inward No. 21 of Lalitpur.
